What is the average MPG for a Green Car?

Most Fuel Efficient Vehicles can be as high as 60 Miles Per Gallon

Electric Vehicles like the Nissan Leaf can be the equivalent of 99 Miles Per Gallon

How does an electric vehicle (EV) work?

An electric car is run by three main parts: an electric motor, a controller and a battery. When the pedal is pushed on an electric car, the controller delivers electrical currents from the battery to the motor. This gives the car acceleration. When the vehicle is idle there is no electrical current being processed, so energy is not being used!

Electric cars can be charged through any electrical outlet at your home or business. The time it takes to charge the battery depends on how much of the battery's power is left. For best results you should give the car from 6 to 8 hours to charge, so you should plug it in overnight or if you're going to be away for the day.

Fact Sheet

  • Electric vehicles are today's cleanest alternative to the internal combustion vehicles that are on the road today
  • Whereas only 20% of the chemical energy in gas gets converted into useful work throughout the vehicle, 75% or more of the energy from the battery of an EV permeates to the cars wheels
  • Electric vehicles can provide full engine power at virtually any speed (whereas with a gas powered vehicle, the harder you press the gas pedal, the more gas you burn)
