The Energy Efficiency landscape for Biotechnology buildings is changing rapidly:

  • Assembly Bill 1103 (AB 1103) in California is mandating that non-residential buildings above 50,000 square feet and owner occupied buildings above 5,000 square feet must disclose their Energy Performance Rating beginning January 1st, 2011.
  • An Energy Benchmarking through Labs for the 21st Century is also REQUIRED for most business customers to utilize utility rebates and/or incentives.
  • Building Star and PACE (Property Assessed Clean Energy) financing will be rolling out shortly to stimulate commercial energy efficiency retrofits.
  • Energy Efficiency Commercial Building Corporate Tax Reduction offers $0.30 to $1.80 per square foot in corporate federal tax deduction for energy efficiency installations until 2013.
